Scrapbooking with Angie

Posted by Kathy Torrence on Jan 13, 2008 in Scrapbooks, Today's Photo |

Yesterday was our monthly Scrapbooking Ministry Crop at church.

I did take a photo of everyone at the crop, but was threatened with certain legal action if I posted it here on my blog…

However, my friend Angie gave me permission to post a photo of her…here she is working on our "Joy" page:

Thanks for being a good sport, Angie…

Hi,

I just stumbled on your website and I was wondering if I could ask you a question…I am novice at scrapbooking and do it occassionally. My question is, when I cut something out and then run it through my Xyron machine to make it a sticker, I peel off the clear film and then the thing that I cut becomes sticky around the edges. I apply the piece to my page and when I close the book and reopen it the page sticks together. My daughters coach their local high school Pom/Dance Squad and every year I have made them mini books with encouraging poems and pictures from the year. They compete at a state compitition and it is something I give them as a memory & hope they are inspired to do their best and have fun for the last time for the seniors and themselves. I am not their coach, just the coaches’ Mom that enjoys all they do and the hard work they put into it all year, as well as my daughters. I make between 12 and 15 every year for the past maybe 7 years. I wish I could just cut things out and then make them stickers, but so far my solution has been to run them through the Xyron, then cut them out, but my scissors get so sticky and it is a mess, but then the book pages do not stick together.

Do you have any suggestions and am I the only one with this problem?

Thank you for your time.

Sincerely yours,

Mary

Mary –

Thanks for reading my blog!

If you have extra adhesive around the edges of your Xyron-made sticker, I would suggest taking an adhesive eraser (sold by Stampin’ Up! or in craft stores) and rubbing it around the edges of the item after you’ve adhered it to the page. The eraser is a gummy substance that takes any extra adhesive with it like magic!

Or I would also suggest using another adhesive instead of the Xyron – my favorite adhesive at the moment is Tombow Multi-Purpose adhesive. It is a liquid and comes in a small bottle with a fine and wide applicator tip. I’m usually not a big fan of liquid adhesives, but this one works like a charm! You only have to use a small drop and it holds extremely well.

Your books sound wonderful! I’m sure the girls and their parents will appreciate them for years to come.

Good luck with your scrapbooking!
