My name is Kathy Torrence (formerly Kathy Sweeten and Kathy Meehan in case anyone is “Googling” me under those names).   I am a mom of 3 children ages 6, 9 and 14. I am also lucky enough to have Michael, my wonderful husband of almost 10 years.

A few recent changes to the categories on my blog…

I’ve changed the title to more accurately reflect the content of my posts.  The direction of my blog has taken a slight turn…you may start to see more writing as I’m trying to stretch my other creative muscles.  I’ve also updated the theme to be a little easier on the eyes…

I am still trying to take regular photos and post them in the “Today’s Photo” category. I haven’t been very religious about this lately, but I’m trying.  I’d like to keep this up for the rest of 2008 (or as long as I’m motivated) to keep a sort of online photo-diary. Many of the photos will be of the mundane things in my life – but isn’t that what we want to remember years from now? Sometimes it’s the little things of everyday life that are most worth documenting.

I’ve added a “Local Community” category for information about places to go and things to do here in my part of the world (Southern NJ).

I am also on a mission to finally lose the weight that I’ve put on during the last two years since my hysterectomy. You’ll find posts of my progress (or lack thereof) in the “My Adventures in Dieting” category. I’m going to try to be brutally honest in this category – losing weight is not an easy thing and I think many of you will be able to relate to my struggles.

I also still love crafting and in addition to having had many cards published in various rubber stamping magazines, I am also featured as a “Guest Artist” in the Autumn 2007 issue of Take Ten Stamper’s Sampler magazine and recently won the PaperCrafts magazine’s “World Card Making Day” contest.  I have also recently begun to experiment with knitting, jewelry-making and multi-media soldered art pieces too – I love to try new crafting techniques of all types and I frequently post new craft projects under the “Crafts” subcategories.

My husband, kids and I enjoy spending time together as a family – we have a travel trailer and go camping every chance we have. Photos of our camping adventures as well as other family activities are posted under the “Family Stuff” category.

We also have two goldendoodle (golden retriever/standard poodle mix) puppies, Daisy and Geddy. You can see photos of them in the “Our Goldendoodle Puppies” category.

I also LOVE to go to yardsales and find unexpected, inexpensive treasures! Photos of my finds are posted under the “Yard Sale Finds” category.

I also enjoy gardening and will occasionally share a photo or two from my garden in the “Gardening” category.

And when I have time, I enjoy reading too and will sometimes post some thoughts on books I’ve read in the “Books I’m Reading” category.
