Scrapbook Sketch Challenge

Posted by Kathy Torrence on Oct 1, 2007 in Scrapbooks

So…now that I’m a ‘scrapbook diva’, I decided to try to play with a sketch challenge on SplitCoastStampers just for fun.  The sketch to be used was this one:

and the entire challenge post can be seen here

So here are my pages…

First, I decided to use a cheerleading photo of Emily in an 8X10 size.  I rarely use this size in frames, so I figured it was the perfect one to use for this challenge.

I used paper from the Basic Grey line, “Color Me Silly” for this page.

I had so much fun with this sketch, I decided to try another page using the same sketch.

I started with a black-and-white photo of Matt from last year’s school pictures.  I tried sanding the edges, which resulted in a sort of reddish-orange color (not sure why) and I used this color as the inspiration for the page.  I used paper from My Mind’s Eye for this page:

I used my Cricut to cut out the letters and my Xyron to adhere them.  I like how this turned out!

That was WAY too much fun – much more fun than doing the laundry that is calling my name… 🙂

Doggy Costumes

Posted by Kathy Torrence on Oct 1, 2007 in Our Goldendoodle Puppies

I couldn’t help myself – Target had dog costumes on sale and they were so stinkin’ cute – I had to get one for Daisy and Geddy!

Here’s Daisy as a ladybug:

It was tough to tuck all that fur in the costume (a doggie size large!)!  You’ll notice Geddy laughing at her in the background until I put his costume on too:

Meet Geddy, the bumblebee!

Here they both are, getting some treats for being so patient:

Isn’t this why we have pets in the first place?  I still can’t stop laughing…

Shupp’s Grove Antique Market

Posted by Kathy Torrence on Oct 1, 2007 in Yardsale Finds

After our hike this weekend, we stopped at a FANTASTIC outdoor antique market, Shupp’s Grove.   Rows and rows of tons of vintage stuff at reasonable prices – it was like the greatest yardsale ever!  The items were not quite at yard sale prices, but not quite at antique store prices, either.  There were definitely lots of bargains to be had!

Unfortunately, I had three whiny kids and one impatient husband with me, so I couldn’t explore as much as I wanted to. I will be going back again next weekend – sans husband and kids!

I did manage to find a great booth with lots of ephemera for bargain prices…I picked up a bunch of old photos for 50 cents each:

And a couple of advertising cards for $1 – these just made me laugh out loud so I had to get them!

I can’t wait to go back next weekend!

Fall Camping in Pennsylvania

Posted by Kathy Torrence on Oct 1, 2007 in Family Stuff

We had a great time camping this weekend at Lake-in-Wood campground in Navron, Pa. We are camping there again for the next two weekends as well – a fall ‘no-tow’ package where we leave the camper during the week and camp only on the weekends.

I love fall camping – probably even more than summer camping! The weather was beautiful, sunny and cool – perfect for outdoor activities.

While we were there, we went to the Ephrata street fair, but didn’t stay long. Even though the fair is outside on the street, apparently, dogs are not allowed (although apparently not all the vendors were aware of this – several stopped us just to ask what kind of dogs they were and one even offered us free water and ice for the dogs).

After leaving the fair (and paying $4 for parking!), we went to the Middle Creek Wildlife Management Area for a hike. Here we are, taking a break on the trail:

Hiking at Middle Creek-3

It was such a gorgeous day! The dogs did great (this was Geddy’s first camping trip) – Geddy led the trail but kept turning around to make sure that Daisy was still behind him. He would take ten steps, then turn around, take ten more steps, then turn around – it was really cute.
