Busy, Busy Week

Posted by Kathy Torrence on Feb 3, 2008 in Our Goldendoodle Puppies, Today's Photo

I haven’t posted for a few days – this week has been CRAZY busy for me!  I’m trying to get back into the swing of working, while at the same time keeping up with all the things I did while I was home.

Tuesday night I didn’t get home until almost 9:00 after going to Bible study right after work and Wednesday I didn’t get home until almost 10:00 after going to Andrew’s basketball game right after work (they called EVERY foul possible during that game just to drag it out…).  By Thursday night, I was so physically exhausted, it was all I could do to make dinner and do homework with the kids.

Anyway…today was Daisy’s birthday – she’s one year old today.  In honor of her birthday, Mike went out and got her a cake (I had nothing to do with this one…but I have to admit, I did have a small piece):

Of course, we didn’t give any cake to the dog… 🙂

Happy birthday, Daisy!

Like A Herd Of Wild Goldendoodles

Posted by Kathy Torrence on Jan 25, 2008 in Our Goldendoodle Puppies, Today's Photo

Andrew brought his other dog, Bella, over this afternoon to play with Geddy and Daisy.  They ran like crazy all over the yard – they had so much fun!  I tried to snap a photo, but they were constantly in motion…

They finally stayed still while drinking some water inside:

One Giant Dog?

Posted by Kathy Torrence on Jan 20, 2008 in Our Goldendoodle Puppies, Today's Photo

Our dogs really love their crate – they cuddle up together inside and sometimes it’s hard to tell where one dog stops and where the other one starts:

You can see that the door is open, yet they still like to sleep inside the crate…

Daisy’s Dancing On the Table

Posted by Kathy Torrence on Jan 18, 2008 in Our Goldendoodle Puppies

We had a little bit of snow this afternoon…

Not much snow – just enough for the dogs to have a little fun.  For some reason, Daisy got up onto the table on the deck – maybe to get a better view of the neighborhood coated in white…

Bad Dogs!!!!

Posted by Kathy Torrence on Dec 4, 2007 in Our Goldendoodle Puppies

Yesterday, my sweet, adorable puppies were SO BAD!!!

As I was taking Emily to school, they ran away from me as I was trying to put them into the car.  They just took off down the street, tails wagging, wrestling and playing with each other as they went – meanwhile, I’m running after them screaming and Emily is crying hysterically in the car while they disappeared from sight.

I dropped Emily off at school (still crying – “I want my teddy bears!!!!”) and frantically drove around town asking everyone I saw if they had seen two recently-groomed, large fluffy bear-like creatures frolicking in the street.

Fortunately, my friend Jennifer found them and was able to lure them into her van.  I am SO grateful and it means so much to me – not only because she found  the dogs for me, but also…

  1. She recently broke her heel so she is currently has a cast and is on crutches
  2. Geddy tends to get car-sick and Jennifer has a real aversion to all things vomit-related (her own gag reflex kicks in whenever she sees or even hears about it) and…
  3. She’s generally not a ‘dog person’.

So, Jennifer – let me thank you again for finding and rounding up my very naughty dogs.

Oh – and when we got home, one of the dogs (I have a feeling it was Geddy) ATE one of my microscope slide ornaments I made for next week’s ornament exchange!  I have a feeling eating glass is generally not good for a dog…sigh…

By the way – we went to the pet store last night and bought them a super-large metal crate to keep them – and my craft projects – safe and sound.

Puppy Update

Posted by Kathy Torrence on Dec 3, 2007 in Our Goldendoodle Puppies

I was looking through my blog and realized that, for one thing, my “About Me” page was REALLY out of date.  I fixed that this morning.

I also realized that I haven’t posted any photos of my puppies in a while.  Daisy is now 10 months old and Geddy is about 8 months old.  They were just groomed the other day and I snapped this photo:

After grooming

Daisy’s beard looks dark in the photo because she just finished drinking some water.  But I got them both to sit so nicely – I had to take the picture!

Here are a few more photos…

That’s Daisy – her fur got REALLY curly after it rained yesterday!

And here’s Geddy in his usual ferocious, aggressive position (NOT!):

I tried to get more photos of Geddy in other positions, but every time I walked toward him with the camera, he just rolled over on his back…sigh…

Geddy is now larger than Daisy – especially after the groomer trimmed most of Daisy’s fur!  She looks very ‘poodle-ish’ now – but is still just as cute.  Geddy has a very mellow personality and Daisy is more like the life of the party.

They are both great dogs…although we have had a few Christmas ornament issues since we put the tree up…

Hiking at Bushkill Falls

Posted by Kathy Torrence on Nov 19, 2007 in Family Stuff, Our Goldendoodle Puppies

We were able to get away last weekend to the Poconos with the kids for a little R & R.  Our first day was kind of cold and rainy, but we made the most of it swimming in the indoor pool and hot tub.

The skies soon cleared and we managed to get to Bushkill Falls for a little hiking – we even brought the dogs!

The dogs made it VERY interesting – there are a lot of stairs to climb – some of them very narrow:

More stairs!

But it was a beautiful day and a beautiful hike – we all had a very nice day!

Halloween Doggie Parade

Posted by Kathy Torrence on Oct 31, 2007 in Our Goldendoodle Puppies

This morning, our local retirement home held a Halloween Pet Parade…and of course, we HAD to participate!

Daisy wore her ladybug costume and Geddy wore his bumblebee costume:

I had a really hard time getting a good photo of the dogs – they were SO excited, they just couldn’t sit still!

Here I am with the two of them:

Marie and her Newfoundland, Zoe, also joined us:

There were some great doggie costumes!  Here’s a pimpin’ pug, but how big do pug get?

Pocahontas:

And a ballerina:

(That’s Daisy rolling over on her back in the lower left corner of the photo).

There was even a cat and a bird in the parade, too!

The dogs were great and we were asked back to visit the residents again during the holiday season.  Daisy and Geddy were so exhausted after the parade, they slept the rest of the morning!

MY Dog Ate THEIR Homework!

Posted by Kathy Torrence on Oct 25, 2007 in Our Goldendoodle Puppies

So…I’m getting ready to go teach my Computers and Society class this afternoon and I walk out into the living room where I had been grading midterms and I find this:

Dog ate his homework

Yes, that’s right – one of my puppies chewed up one of my student’s midterms!!!!!  I had to piece it back together to see whose test it was!  Fortunately, I think I can still read the rest of the answers…hopefully, my student will be understanding about the condition of his test.

Should I give him extra points for this?!?! (the student, not the puppy)

Daisy’s A CGC!

Posted by Kathy Torrence on Oct 19, 2007 in Our Goldendoodle Puppies

Our goldendoodle, Daisy, completed her Canine Good Citizen test last night at PetSmart – Mike said she passed with flying colors!  The CGC program is offered by the AKC and consists of a ten part test to show that your dog is well trained and is a responsible doggie citizen.

Dogs are tested on:

  • Accepting a friendly stranger
  • Sitting politely for petting
  • Appearance and grooming
  • Walking on a loose lead
  • Walking through a crowd
  • Sit, down and stay on command
  • Coming when called
  • Reaction to another dog
  • Reaction to distraction
  • Supervised separation

Now she’ll have a medallion to wear on her collar to show that she’s a CGC – congratulations, Daisy!
